Good Things Come to Those Who Wait
Starting from Scratch: If you’re starting a new business, or launching a new website with a new domain name, you are going to need to be patient. Nothing is going to get you to the top of organic search in the beginning. You need to build up your credibility in the eyes of Google before you can start to play with the major competitors in your market.
Any reputable SEO company or service is going to give you a reasonable time frame in which they think it will take to get you moving to the top. If you are starting with no foundation, no one should ever tell you that you can rank at the top in any less than 6 months. If you are in a competitive market with a large population, even with the right SEO plan, ranking at the top of page one can take up to a year.
Recovery: If you have been hit with a Google penalty because you tried to be too aggressive and you broke the Webmaster General Guidelines that are set and provided by Google, you can face months of punishment. Either you’ll fall back in rankings significantly or you’re site will be removed from Google all together. If you find yourself in this situation and you’ll looking for an SEO company to help you dig you’re way back out, you should expect to be waiting a while depending on the penalty they have issued you.
Switching Gears: If you’re switching to a new SEO or a new SEO technique but you’re site has been live for at least a year, you could move along a little faster than in the previous two situations described above, depending on what has or hasn’t been completed up until that point. If you’re on the second page for “Roofing company” type search phrases in your local market and you’re looking for a boost to get you over the hump, you could be looking at two to three months to move ahead, depending on the situation and assuming the right technique is applied by the company you hire.

Months 4 through 6 are when you should really start to know if what you’ve invested your money in is working.
This is a hard pill to swallow for business owners with skewed expectations going into the SEO process. You will spend a significant amount of money up front before you start to see a real return on your investment but, when you make it to the top of Google for the top searched keywords in your city, you will see an influx of quality new leads on a regular basis. During the peak seasons or after a big storm, some of our roofing clients don’t know what to do with the amount of phone calls and form submissions they receive off of their website because we have made it easy for them to be seen by their target audience.
That’s not to say you won’t see any kind of increase in business before reaching the top of page one. #1 is always the goal but we can never promise it and no other company should ever promise you that either. With the way that we approach SEO, you’ll rank for miscellaneous and long-tail searches as well as the high volume keywords we’re targeting. Often those more specific searches have buyer intent that comes along with them, meaning the person is looking to make a purchase, not just do research. What to Expect
If you choose to work with us, you can expect to see a positive change in your online presence within 90 days. You will start to see an increase in leads coming in by the time you hit the third or second page. The time it takes for that to happen depends on your situation when we start the campaign. Within six months you should start to see a return on your investment and see the leads keep coming in from that point forward.
We almost always recommend investing in Google AdWords management with us in the beginning of your SEO campaign as well to get some leads coming in while you’re waiting for the SEO to start delivering. Yes, this is an extra expense but you’ll have leads coming in and jobs to collect on. You can choose to only run Google AdWords but we don’t recommend it for roofing companies. You want to own your market and show that you are the best option in town. You’ll also get better quality leads once you are ranking organically.
