Penaltyflag display imageThe Google Panda update not only affected many website SEO rankings, but according to polls, also caused some job losses. About 10% of the industry lost their job, and about 25% had them ‘shaking in their boots’. Loss in traffic means loss in income. Bloggers and content writers are working harder than ever to produce useful and relevant high-quality content. For Google, trust and authority have always been important, only now websites are going to have a much harder time showing up in the organic (non-paid) search results without it. Businesses and so called SEO experts will have to step up their game.

10 old but good SEO tips to help you avoid being hit by the Google Panda penalty:

  1. Ensure quality content. Make sure your website pages contain trusted, quality, original information.
  2. User Friendliness. Check your site’s click through rate and bounce rate. When your objective is to get your site on the first page, it needs to be among the 10 best sites on the web.
  3. Incorporate media into your pages and posts. Google places a lot more emphasis and ranking weight of unique images and video into content creation.
  4. Do not overuse keywords. Google will penalize excessive SEO tricks.
  5. Quality Backlinks. Only get your links from trusted, high-quality and authoritative sites.
  6. Incorporate local targeting and geographic ranking signals as much as possible. Any sort of geographic directories, business listings, and more are vital to getting improved rankings for local terms such as your city, county, and state keywords.
  7. Check your site’s speed. My pet peeve! Make sure it loads as fast as it can with Google Page Speed Test and make sure your site crosses 88.
  8. Avoid excessive ads. Plenty of ads on a page can send a signal to Panda that your site is a low-quality site and that it was made for advertising.
  9. Compare the competition. That’s right, go spy on what your competitors are doing. Have they got better content? Are their pages’ search engine optimized?
  10. Last, but not least, ask all the questions in your mind when you hire a web marketing firm. The company could be using some tactics to get traffic to your blog or website, and you must know those tactics. Find out if any risks are involved in those tactics.

And if you’re looking for that web marketing company that can help your business benefit from the largest amount of marketing knowledge, and avoid the big Panda penalty, then visit our sister company at ClickIt Web Marketing. Allow us to handle your SEO game plan so you can focus on your business.
